| About Me | "I attended the University of Miami after high school on a 4-year Air Force ROTC scholarship. Played a little baseball, and received my B of Education in communication and my teaching certificate in Secondary Education. Ray Liotta (Good Fellas) and I were in several acting classes together. Commissioned 2nd Lt and slated for flight school. When the Vietnam War ended, the Air Force cancelled flight school for 1300, which included me. I wanted to fly pretty badly, so I resigned my Air Force commission and started over in the Marine Corps. I then went to OCS and then Infantry Officer School where I received my first MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) 0302-Infantry Officer. Nine months later I reported to Pensacola for Navy Flight School. One year later, I reported to Kingsville Texas for another year of training in jets and carrier qualification. I qualified in two different jets (T-2 Buckeye and T-A4 Skyhawk) on the USS Lexington. I received my Navy wings (1979) and assigned to Camp Pendleton to fly OV-10's, "Bronco" as an armed Forward Air Controller. After 3 1/2 years I was honorably discharged from active duty although I stayed in the reserves and flew C-130's out of Glenview NAS (just outside of Chicago). I flew for a small commuter named Scheduled Skyways in Fayetteville for about 1 year. I flew Sam Walton one day and we had an interesting conversation. I flew 2 years for a UPS contractor (Orion) and then hired at Federal Express. I flew 727s, DC-10's, Airbus-300/310 and retired as a Captain on the Boeing 777 after 30 years with Fedex. Along the way my current wife Sondra and I have been married for 24 years and we together had 7 children. We are expecting our 10th grandchild (Claire) in January. Our oldest is a freshman in college! We moved from Memphis 20 years ago and built a home in Hot Springs Village Arkansas. After 20 years of enjoying our home in Arkansas we recently built a smaller home in Palm Coast, Florida just south of St. Augustine and plan to move there full time. We have had one more granddaughter, Cora from our son Bobby. Independence Kansas was a wonderful community to grow up in and I miss so many wonderful friends that will always be “special”.
