Russell Eugene Jackson, age 51, of Shelbyville, Tennessee, passed peacefully from this life on Monday, June 3, 2025, at his home, surrounded by family and under the care of Hospice Compassus.
Born on May 17, 1974, in Independence, Kansas, Russell was the son of Shirlee Bertie Stradley Jackson and the late Glen Carl Jackson. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Deborah Dianne Jackson, and a beloved uncle, Paul Jackson.
Russell is survived by his loving wife, Tara Ballard Jackson; his children, Zaine Freeman of Oklahoma, Sydnee Payge Jackson and Mason Russell Jackson, both of Kansas, Adin Freeman and Samuel Snyder, both of Shelbyville; and two cherished grandchildren, Pierce Davis and Oakley Freeman. He is also survived by his sisters, Glenda (Eldon) Ellis of Kansas and Christy (Larry) Swanson of Oklahoma, as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members.
Russell attended Independence High School and graduated from Cherryvale High School with the Class of 1994. He made the selfless decision to enlist in the United States Marine Corps before participating in his graduation ceremony. Although a medical issue led to an early discharge following boot camp, he remained deeply proud of his brief service.
He later pursued a degree in music at Independence Community College and earned a welding certification from Coffeyville Community College. Throughout his career, Russell worked in a wide range of fields and was known for his versatility and work ethic. He held positions as a commercial welder, truck driver, police officer, mechanic, and maintenance technician, including time with Amazon and Walmart Distribution Center.
In his free time, Russell enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidsons-he had previously ridden with the Affiliates of the American Veterans Motorcycle Club, where he was known by the road name "Greenlight." He also loved fixing things and spending quality time with his family and friends. A man of deep faith, Russell had a profound love for Jesus and was passionate about sharing the Lord's Word. He felt called to spread the gospel and lived each day with intention and purpose.
