James F. “Jim” Grimm, 60, passed away at his home on Friday, April 11, 2025. Jim was born on January 23, 1965, in Peoria, Illinois. He was the son of the late Fred and Kathy Grimm. Jim was a loving son, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and a friend to so many.

He is survived by his children, Hannah (Bradley) Miller of Pittsboro, IN, Tyler (Elizabeth) Grimm of Jamestown, IN, Danielle (Lewis Evans) Bertolero of Raleigh, NC; his step-daughters, Whitney Wood of Corydon, IN and Erin (Earl) Schrock of LaGrange, IN; his sister Kelly (Robert) Ruther of New Lenox, IL; his brother Frank (Jennifer) Grimm of Carmel, IN; and his grandchildren Cole Miller, Sawyer Miller, Maeve Miller, Oliver Grimm, Harper Wood, Bella Wood, Finnegan Schrock, Sullivan Schrock, Phoebe Schrock, Charles Evans, and Michael Evans. Also surviving are his nieces, Abby Ruther, Addison Grimm, and Delaney Grimm.

Jim was a United States Navy veteran who served in the reserves for many years. He worked in the automotive industry early in his career (Mitsubishi, New Flyer, AM General). Regardless of the job, he was extremely talented, a hard worker, and could fix anything.

Anyone that knew Jim loved him. He was always the life of the party. He had a wonderful sense of humor with a smile that would light up the room. He was very giving and kind, a guy who would literally give you the shirt off his back. He loved his family so much, especially his children, grandchildren, and nieces. Jim was a good soul, who was taken from us way too early. He will be missed.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the VFW Post 4999, 1729 N. Santa Fe Avenue, Chillicothe, Illinois from 3:00pm to 7:00pm. Friends and family are welcome to attend and share memories. It will be a casual affair, with family sharing a few words about Jim’s life at 5pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pathway Ministries, https://pathwaypeoria.org/give/.
