Roger H. Nafts
Class of 1960
Navy, 4 Years
Year One - San Diego: Boot Camp and Radio School
Year 2 and 3 - Oahu, Hawaii - Radio Communications Center - Lived at Wheeler Air Force Base
Year Four - LST 1073 USS Outagamie County - We picked up cargo in Olongapo, Philippines and delivered it to Chu Lai, Viet Nam. We picked up equipment that needed repairs and delivered it to Danang. If it could not be fixed there we took it back to Olongapo and did it all over again. The LSTs were great in Viet Nam as they were shallow draft ships and could pull up to any shoreline to pick up cargo.. This ship was from World War II when they landed the troops and materials on the beaches of France.

Our Huntley Project High School military alumni are some of the most outstanding people we know and this page recognizes them and everything they have done! Not everyone gets to come home for the holidays and we want our Huntley Project High School Military to know that they are loved and appreciated. All of us in Worden are proud of our military alumni and want to thank them for risking their lives to protect our country!
