| About Me | Born in Cincinnati, OH and a Berkeley resident since 1964. Studied at Sophie Newcomb College, University of Cincinnati, Columbia University, and the Cincinnati College of Music and Dramatic Arts. In New England and New York stock companies she developed as an actress and founded the Cincinnati Civic Theater In the 1940s she worked with distinguished intellectuals in Cuba and Europe, co founding the Academia de Artes Dramaticas in Havana producing and directing native and international dramatists. She studied in Paris with Louis Jouvet in the 1950s. She produced and directed National Dramatic Festivals in Cuba, and dramatic TV and Radio programs. A number of leading Latin American actors emerged under her tutelage. She taught drama at San Francisco State University, applied theology at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, and lay training at St. Albert's Priory. She published two books of poetry, and an unpublished novel "Infinite Corner" set in 1940s Cuba. She is survived by a daughter Kristin Bonilla and granddaughter Alexandra of Washington, D.C.; and a son Victor Bonilla of Bethesda, MD.
