Alan Dahl
Class of 1965
Navy, 12 Years
Naval Support Activity Saigon Detachment Catlo, RVN 20 months as Storekeeper in charge of shipping section of Supply Dept loading smaller ships delivering to Navy bases in Mekong Delta. Then on my 2nd extension, I transferred to Saigon to teach English to Vietnamese Midshipmen and Vietnamese Seals that were then sent to schools in Virginia. After separation from active duty, I joined Reserve Seabee Battalion 18 and later Regimental Staff for 9 years in charge of all warehousing and performed pre-annual inspections of the Battalion Supply Department locating items in need of correction.I left the Reserves as an E-6 even though I was recommended for E-7 due to interference with my regular job.

After the Military I went on to work with the Department of Defense. My Highest Military award was the Bronze Star.

I turned 18 on June 8th, graduated on June 10th, was in Ft Ord, CA June 14th for Army Basic. Went to Airborne School at Ft Benning, GA, went to Viet Nam with the 1st Air Cav from Nov 65 to May 67. Rotated to Ft Bragg, NC, with the 82nd Airborne Division. Got out Dec 71, moved back to Vancouver for a few years, Wenatchee for 8 years, then to the Seattle area, where I still live now.

Served as a United States Air Force Registered Dietitian from 1975 through 1995. Stationed at Andrews AFB, MD 3 separate assignments, Vandenberg ABF, CA, and the USAF Academy, CO. Worked in military hospitals as a clinical dietitian, food service administrator, community dietitian, dietetic internship director and clinical instructor. Retired at the rank of Lt Col.
