About	Susan Lucille Richards lost her long battle against breast cancer on February 6, 2004. Born on September 4, 1947 in Vancouver, Washington, she was a loving wife of Carl Richards and a devoted and nurturing mother to her son Joseph Williams Richards. She is also survived by her mother, Virginia Green, her siblings Ed Green, Randy Green, Bob Green, Dave Green, Liz Ferguson and Gina Bender. Although her life ended far too soon at the age of 56, she made the most of her time, and lived a rich, full life. She devoted herself to the betterment of others, teaching elementary school for 32 years and raising a family. She was a champion for her fellow workers, serving as president of her teachers’ union multiple times, even after afflicted with cancer. Those who knew her remember her as a selfless and caring individual who always served others before herself. Her life was dramatically changed when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1995, yet she fought bravely to survive for 8 ½ years, even as the cancer spread throughout her body. She lived to see her son graduate from high school and go on to college and to see the retirement of her husband. Up to her final days she took advantage of all her time here, taking cross-country car trips to Florida and Washington in the last months of her life. Even at the end, her heart beat strongly until her last breath, and her memory will forever be imprinted in the hearts of those who knew her.
