Graduation Year Class of 1968
Date of Passing Mar 14, 2023
About Karen was born on Feb. 1, 1950, along with her twin brother, Craig, to Rene (Baldwin) and Frank Schmidt. She was preceded in death by her twin brother, Craig, who passed away on March 26, 2004 and her father, Frank in 2015. My beloved Mom is thankfully still here.

God has blessed me with many opportunities. I taught second grade for five years and later substitute taught for a couple of years in K-12 grades. Along the way I was able to earn two Master degrees, one in Education & Curriculum and one in Strategic Intelligence while attending the National Defense Intelligence College.

My teaching of K-12 students impressed upon me the importance of the basics and I developed a board game, Phonics Adventure, to teach reading through letter/sound recognition.

I had the privilege of working at Oregon Health Sciences University for the trauma director/surgeon as an administrative assistant.

Another job that was fulfilling was working for a national educational laboratory where I created curriculum and presented information at regional and national trainings.

Genealogy became an interest and I put together a large volume with much input from my relatives.

My last career move was as a FBI Counter-Terrorism Intelligence Analyst in Washington, DC area. I’m thankful for the current whistleblowers who are coming forward toreveal wrongdoing within the institution.

Again, these are not my accomplishments, but places I believe God put me for His plan.
I would like to thank friends and family for their care for my Mom and/or me. Not wanting to leave anyone out, but special thanks to my cousin Deanna McDaniel, David and Patty Page, Eloise Blaser, and Vicki and Jon Schwarz.
