About YOUNGSTOWN - John M. "Jack" Pierson, 78, died Tuesday, June 7, 2011.

He was born Jan. 13, 1933, in Sharon, Pa., the son of John and Elizabeth Flood Pierson.

He was a teacher and football coach at area high schools.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Charles Pierson; 10 children, Cathy of Louisville, Ky., Jack of Canfield, Mike of Saline, Mich., Dr. Diane of Ashland, Ky., Jim of Mount Lebanon, Pa., Dr. Jerry of Frederick, Md., Tom of Pearland of Texas, Sue of Dallas, Dr. Joe of Canton, N.Y., and Dr. Ed of Columbiana; his brother, Tom of North Lima; and 22 grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Austintown.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel.
