About | illiam L. "Bill" Evans, 78, of Damascus, VA passed away on Monday, January 4, 2021 at his residence. He was born on November 15, 1942, a son of the late Keith Evans and is survived by his mother, Virginia Evans. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Ellen "Toots" Widener. He was a life long resident of Washington County, VA. Bill had worked in construction for a few years. He loved farming and was a master salesman of farm equipment at Wright Equipment for many years. He later worked with Abingdon Ambulance Service. Bill never met a stranger and you would always see him with a smile on his face. He was loved by all that knew him. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and his flower garden. In addition to his mother, Bill is survived by two daughters, Marty Helton (Darrell) and Margie Evans; one brother, Eddie Evans; three grandchildren, Amber Phillips (Brian), Shawn Helton (Jessica), and Dustin Orr (Kim); five great grandchildren, Cheyanne, Eric, Eli, Jesse, and Parker; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express a special thank you to the Damascus Volunteer Rescue Squad and Caris Hospice for all the love and care shown to Bill during his illness. |
Events | Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private graveside service was conducted at Sunset Memorial Park with Shawn Helton officiating. The family requested no visitation at the residence or at the funeral home at that time. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Damascus Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 458, Damascus, VA 24236.
