About | John W. Phillips, Jr., 82, of Hagerstown, MD, left this life on November 9, 2022, to be with the Lord. He was the husband of Betty J. Phillips who had gone on before him. Born March 15, 1940, he was the son of the late John W. Phillips, Sr. and Emily Ellen "Nettie" Phillips. John was a member of the Full Gospel Pentecostal Church of Four Mile Woods where prior to his illness, he served as a deacon. John had a profound love for his family and loved hunting, fishing, and his fur babies who held near and dear to his heart. He worked at General Motors, Mack Truck, and retired from the state of Maryland Division of Corrections. He loved his community and public service where he served on the Hagerstown City council as a councilman for Ward 3, and was involved in the National Little League. He is survived by his three children, Brenda K. Wright and her husband Brett of Martinsburg, WV; John W. Phillips, III and his wife Sandra of Funkstown, MD; and Nicole Marie Fuller and her husband Kevin of Punta Gorda, FL. He is also survived by seven grandchildren whom he loved very much; Brandon, Carlee, Hunter, McCrae, Chanse, Ben, and Kelliane, six great grandchildren; Jurni, Ella, Jahslyn, Alivia, Bodhi, and Indie, and numerous nieces and nephews who he loved as his own. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers; David Howard Phillips and Robert W. Phillips. |
Events | The family received friends at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, on Sunday, November 13, 2022, from 3:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. Burial was private and held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions were made to Full Gospel Pentecostal Church of Four Mile Woods and Hospice of Washington County. |
