About Shirley Eleanor (Lilly) Hillman was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world on June 18, 2023, at age 83 after peacefully spending her final days with her family at home in Grasonville, Maryland.

She was born to George R. and Agnes M. (Pitzinger) Lilly on August 19, 1939, and raised alongside her loving sister, June (Lilly) Mettee. She met her future husband, Donald Hillman, when she was 12 years old. After graduating high school, they married and raised 3 children: Donald Jr., Kenneth (deceased), and Rodney. She was also the devoted mother-in-law of Donald Jr.’s spouse Karen Christian, and Rodney’s spouse Kathleen Houlihan, and cherished aunt of Jill, Jodi, Denise, Doug, Keith, Charles, Kevin, and Kelly.

Shirley founded and operated a successful catering business in Elkridge in the 1970’s. Once her children were older, Shirley established a decades-long career as a top real estate agent in Howard County, teaming with her husband Donald in the 1990’s and early 2000’s until his passing in 2004. Aside from her family, she was fond of playing the slot machines and spending much time following sports, including golf, tennis, football, basketball, and especially women’s lacrosse.

Her intense affection for her grandchildren, Danielle, Taylor, and Elizabeth led her to a new chapter in 2005 and beyond, as she helped Rodney raise Taylor and Elizabeth after the untimely passing of their mother, Joanne. She took great joy from interacting with her grandchildren and was able to spend a significant amount of time with them during her final days. She also warmly welcomed new grandchildren to the family in later years – Katherine, Evan, and Aidan Kuvshinoff (Kathleen’s children).
Events A graveside service was scheduled for 10:45 am on June 22, 2023 (which happens to be Shirley and Donald’s 66th wedding anniversary) at Meadowridge Memorial Park, 7250 Washington Blvd., Elkridge, MD 21075.
