About	Kurt Peter William Spiess, Sr., 76, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Sunday, June 22, 2014, in Winchester Medical Center. Mr. Spiess was born in 1937, in Bietichm, Germany, the son of the late Otto and Bertha Spiess. He was a graduate of Howard County Senior High School, class of 1955. He was employed with National Plastics, later to become International Paper and retired in 2000. Kurt was a true outdoorsman and enjoyed the simple life. He enjoyed traveling when possible, cutting wood and spent countless hours walking the Blue Ridge Mountains and Appalachian trails. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He married June Christine Sappington on September 4, 1958, in Glen Burnie, Maryland. Surviving with his wife is daughter, Cindy June Spiess of Crownsville, Maryland; son, Kurt Peter Spiess, Jr. and his wife, Cindy Young, of Gambrills, Maryland; two grandsons, Isaac Justin E. Spiess and Kurt Peter Spiess III, as well as many extended family and close friends.
Events	The family received friends on Thursday, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, and from 6:00PM to 8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. A funeral service was conducted at 2:00 PM on Friday, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, Pastor George Reed will be officiting. Interment followed at Mount Hebron Cemetery.
