Barbara Ann Ireland, a longtime resident of Laurel, passed away on August 5, 2016 at University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Dorchester in Cambridge, MD. She was 80. She was born on January 27, 1936 to the late Amos Souder, Sr. and Mildred (Poe) Souder Arnold. She graduated from Howard High School in 1955. She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church before moving to Cambridge in 1996. Barbara was also a member of the Moose Lodge, Laurel Women’s Club, and the Bertling Heating and Air Conditioning Bowling League. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading. Barbara retired from Citizens National Bank in 1991 after 35 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Verna Ann Ireland and brothers Wayne and Larry Souder, and Wilmer Arnold.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years Verner R. Ireland; loving daughter Kathy I. Poteete; brothersAmos Souder, Jr. and Craig Arnold; and grandson Patrick Lee Poteete of Carrabelle, FL.
