About Mr. Richard Thomas Schatz, 71, of Woodbine, died Monday, September 11, 2006, at Carroll Hospital Center, Westminster.

Born February 21, 1935, in Maryland, he was the son of the late George Frank and Margaret Pearl Lapole Schatz. He was the husband of Shirlee Temple Schatz of Woodbine, his wife of 52 years.

He owned and operated Schatz Power Equipment Inc. He had been active at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Eldersburg and St. Michael's Catholic Church in Poplar Springs. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons and daughtersin-law, Timothy Schatz of Sykesville, James and Lisa Schatz of Frederick, David and Barbara Schatz of Union Bridge and Matthew and Susan Schatz of Littlestown, Pa.; daughters and sons-inlaw, Kimberly and Wayne Sharp of Sykesville and Robin and James Rude of Westminster; brother and sister-in-law, Aleda McCormick of Cockeysville, Sister Marilyn Schatz of Kentucky and Thelma and Michael Amato of Ellicott City; and grandchildren, Jody McIntosh, Zachary, Jordan, Jamie, Jessica and Jacob Schatz, Danny Brittany and Brian Rude and Lauren, Bradley, Kelly, Crystal and Cheyenne Schatz.

He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Kristen Schatz; brother, Wallace Schatz; sister, Mary Wall; sister-in-law, Hope Schatz; and brothers-in-law, Bob McCormick and Jim Wall.
Events A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday at 10 a.m. from St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 915 Liberty Rd., Eldersburg.

Interment was at Mt. View Cemetery, Marriottsville.

Friends were welcomed at the Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Rd., Sykesville, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.
