MICHAELS - a St. Michael's businessman, died Sunday, Jul 11, 1999 at the Memorial Hospital at Easton. He was 64. Born in Delaware on Oct 9, 1934, he was the son of the late Rebecca M and Joseph F Petrlik, Sr. Mr. Petrlik grew up in Baltimore's Elkridge area. He garduated from St. Augustine's School in Elkridge and continued his education attending Loyola High School. He was a member of the first graduating class of Howard County High School. He received his college degree from the University of Maryland and went on to the University of Baltimore receiving his Juris Doctor degree in June 1963. After serving in Korea, Mr. Petrlik was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army. His business career began with Transit Casualty Company in Baltimore, where he employed his legal training and continued on to the SSA until Octber 1986 when he retired. Soon after, he moved to the Eastern Shore of Maryland and built a home in St. Michaels. He enjoyed many entrpreprenurial interests. For many years he operated J&J Auto Sales in Baltimore. He opened St. Michaels Motors, an automobile business in St. Michaels in 1998. He also was involved in many real estate ventures and was a regular participant in the tax sales in various Maryland counties. He is survived by his lifelong love Joan Coccaro of St. Michaels, three aunts, H Louise Medford of Drexel, PA. Agnes Della Force of Elkridge, MD and Mary Petrlik of Catonsville, MD, one uncle, Albert Petrlik of Ellicott City, three cousins, Gladys Faulkner of Denton and Ray and Nora Koontz of Baldwin. |
Events | Friends called at the Fleegle-Helfenbein Funeral Home, 106 W. Sunsest Ave., Greensboro, on Tuesday, July 13, from 3 to 5 pm and 7 to 9 pm. A graveside service was held at 1 pm, Wednesday, July 14, at the Greensboro Cemetary. Memorial donations were made to the Memorial Hospital Emergency Department Fund.
