About	Rebecca Joan Peddicord Bassler, 86, of Taneytown, passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at her daughter’s home surrounded by her loving family. Born February 15, 1936, in Ellicott City, she was the daughter of the late Charles N. Peddicord, Jr., and Emma Rebecca Josephine Cassandra Baker Peddicord. She was the loving wife of the late Clarence Edwin “Buddy” Bassler, her husband of 53 years who predeceased her on April 2, 2009. A woman dedicated to her faith, Joan was heavily involved with her church. She was a devoted homemaker who cherished the time spent with her family. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her. Surviving are her children and spouses Steven and Lois Bassler, Philip and Rita Bassler, Patrick and Janai Bassler, Martha Bassler and Brian Fredrickson, Ellen and Tom Childs, Amy and Joe Stambaugh; 20 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; siblings Charles N. Peddicord, III., Barbara J. Dawson, and Anita L. Schmidt, all of Howard County. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by granddaughter Jessica Renee Bassler, and sister Martha C. Peddicord.
Events	The family welcomed friends on SATURDAY, November 5, 2022, from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8pm at Taneytown Baptist Church, 4150 Sells Mill Road, Taneytown, MD 21787. A funeral service was held MONDAY, November 7, 2022, at 10 am at the church with one hour of visitation prior. Officiating was her pastor Jared Pankhurst. For those unable to attend, the service was livestreamed on the church Facebook page. Interment will followed at Meadow Branch Cemetery, Westminster. Memorial contributions were made in her memory to Taneytown Baptist Church, 4150 Sells Mill Road, Taneytown, MD 21787 and/or BridgingLife Hospice, 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD 21157.
