About | With hearts filled with both sorrow and profound gratitude, we celebrate the life of Callie Anne (Baker) Peddicord, a cherished soul who left this world on August 13, 2024, at the age of 83. Born on August 21, 1940, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Franklin Duff Baker and Lois Evelyn (Collier) Baker, Callie's early years were nurtured by the rolling landscapes of a farm in Ellicott City alongside her late sister Judy Lynn Baker where she developed a lifelong passion for the rhythms of nature and the joy of gardening. Callie's spirit and unending warmth brightened the lives of all who knew her. She passed away in Elkridge, Maryland, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication that will continue to inspire those she touched. Callie is survived by her beloved son, Greg Peddicord, and his wife, Karen Robertson, her adored grandchildren, Meadow Claire Peddicord and Tanner Robertson, and fond memories cherished by extended family, friends, and a community that she served with her whole heart. Callie's love for the earth blossomed into a profound expertise as a Master Gardener with the University of Maryland Cooperative Extension Service. Her hands coaxed life from the earth, creating gardens that were a testament to her patience and skill. Her love for nurturing growth extended to her participation in yard sales, where she connected with neighbors over cherished finds and shared stories. Callie's culinary talents were another avenue through which she expressed her love and care. Her cooking and baking were renowned, with the simple pleasure of a perfectly baked cake bringing her as much joy as it did to those fortunate enough to sample her creations. Callie's love for dining out was equally a celebration of community and cuisine, reveling in the fellowship that comes from a shared meal. Above all, Callie's unwavering faith was the guiding light of her existence, providing her with strength and serenity through all of life's ebb and flow. Her commitment to her beliefs was as steadfast as the love she held for her family, and it was this faith that imbued her with the grace and resilience she exhibited each day. As we bid farewell to Callie, we are reminded of the tender memories that she leaves behind—a life beautifully lived, a journey of love unabated, and a spirit that will forever bloom in the hearts of those who knew her. Callie Anne (Baker) Peddicord's story is not one of an end, but a perpetual legacy of love, kindness, and the simple joys that make life so precious. In reflection of Callie's life, we remember not just the echo of her laughter and the warmth of her embrace, but the countless ways in which she made our world a more beautiful place. Through the changing seasons, may we find comfort in the knowledge that, like the gardens she so tenderly cared for, Callie's influence will continue to grow and flourish within us all. |
