About	Elizabeth "Betty" Hartey Magagna, only child of John Joseph Hartey and Elizabeth Keating Hartey, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Friday, May 26, 2017 at the age of 95. Born in Philadelphia on May 2, 1922, she married Albert M. Magagna (deceased May 31, 1986) on July 13, 1946. They settled in Ellicott City where they raised Robert (deceased July 25, 2010) & Mark Magagna (66). Betty retired from Howard High School in 1984. She continued teaching at Howard Community College and later substituted into her early 80s. Betty enjoyed playing bridge and going to the theater. She was an avid golfer and volunteer at the voting polls during election time. Betty is survived by son Mark Magagna (spouse Bennetta), daughter-in-law Kathleen H. Magagna, grandchildren Lynn Argenbright (spouse Adam), Shane Magagna (spouse Megan), Brent Magagna, Philip Magagna, and Joshua Magagna, and great grandchildren Kassidy Magagna, Colton Magagna, Ethan Argenbright, and Tessa Argenbright.
Events	A memorial service will take place at St. Louis Parish, 12500 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, MD 21029 on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to HEART Scholarship Fund 9221 Maple Rock Drive, Ellicott City, MD 21042 for students pursing a teaching degree.
