About	John Allen Hunt of Columbia Maryland, passed away Friday, October 20, 2023 at the age of 48. He was born January 18, 1975, in Saigon, Vietnam and adopted from an orphanage when he was just a few days old. He left Vietnam with his family later that year and after spending a few months in Taiwan, moved to the United States. After living in several states such as Texas, Minnesota and Connecticut, he settled in Maryland at the age of eleven. He became a US citizen a few years later. During his childhood, his cousin Tim Chau (now living in Columbia, Maryland) grew up with him in the same household and they were very close, like brothers. John also became close friends to Tim's family: Maggie, Joshua and Jasmine. While in middle school, John met Shobi Khorana and became lifetime friends. He was considered a part of her family. John played midget football in elementary school. He liked to play basketball, softball and tennis --and followed professional basketball, baseball and football. He attended Oakland Mills Middle School and graduated from Howard High School. He was in several school plays and was frequently a soloist in Howard High's Showcase. He also attended Howard Community College for two years studying music. John became a faithful Christian, baptized while a teenager. He actively served as a member of the Westside Church of Christ in Baltimore. He was considered one of their best song leaders for many years. John was a son that called his parents each and every day to see how they were doing. He discussed the previous day's Orioles or Ravens game. He was loved by all who knew him.
Events	Services were held on Thursday, November 2, at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel in Sykesville, MD. Family visitation was from 1:00 to 2:00 pm; memorial service at 2:00 pm. Pastor Albert Au of the Chinese Bible Church of Howard County officiated the service.
