Eugene Earl "Gene" Barth, 55, of Sykesville, died suddenly on Thursday, July 3, 2003, at the University of MD Shock Trauma Center.
Born on August 24, 1947, in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of Joyce A. Funk Barth of Ellicott City and the late Earl Edwin Barth. He was the husband of Wanda Marie Linthicum Barth of Sykesville.
Gene had been a printing supervisor for the University of Maryland, College Park, Physics Department. He had attended the Friendship Baptist Church. He was a master outdoorsman.
Gene had served in the Army National Guard as a sergeant for 6 years from 1966-1972. He had served as the coordinator for the Hunter Safety for many years and had been very involved in the Youth Hunter Education Challenge. He was
inducted into the Hunter Safety Hall of Fame. He had been an avid baseball player in previous years. Gene was a member of the National Muzzle loading Rifle Association and a member of Crowbusters. He was a living history re-enactor.
Surviving, in addition to his wife and mother, are son and his partner, Jason M. Barth and Thomas D. Frogh of Columbia; daughter and son-in-law, Julie Barth Kacergis and Michael Kacergis of Eldersburg and daughter and her partner, Katie
Ellen Barth and Lisa Simmons of Towson; brother and sister-in-law, Terry E. and Marcia Barth of Westminster; nephews, Christopher Scott Barth and Brian Edwin Barth and his wife Brandi Lynn Barth and great-nephew: Hunter Edwin Barth.
A funeral service was held July 9 at the Friendship Baptist Church, Sykesville. Interment is in Good Shepherd Cemetery.
