About | Kathy was born in Aurora, Colorado. As a daughter of an Air Force Officer, she spent much of her early years moving around the world, living in Massachusetts, Texas, Ohio, Delaware, Maryland and Okinawa, Japan. She met the love of her life, Robert, in 1969 at Howard High School, from which she graduated in 1970. Following high school, Kathy attended the University of Delaware and graduated with a B.A. in English. She then began a career in the communications field and started a family with her marriage to Robert on April 19, 1975. After a long career in communications, Kathy enrolled at Towson University in the early 1990s, where she earned her Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology. Immediately afterwards, she began work for the Howard County Public School System as a Media Specialist and ultimately worked the next 23 years at Clarksville Middle School. As an invaluable member of the Clarksville Middle staff, Kathy transformed the Media Center into a vibrant technology hub for the entire school community. She also developed a morning television program for students, maintained a constantly evolving circulation of more than 10,000 books, co-directed 16 musicals, and created innovative digital media curricula. Kathy was an avid reader her entire life and found joy in sharing her love of books with her students and encouraging their growth through reading. She was also a skilled baker and well-known cake genius, always attending a party with a cake or dessert in hand. Kathy enjoyed using her school breaks as an opportunity to travel the world and spend time with her family, especially her grandson, Ryan. |
