Bassmaster Classic

The Bassmaster Classic is a competition in professional bass fishing. It was first held in 1971 in Lake Mead, Nevada and won by Bobby Murray of Hot Springs, Arkansas. After years of being held in July, the Bassmasters Classic was moved to February in 2006. The winner of the tournament is widely considered to be the world champion of bass fishing, as is stated on the winner's trophy.

The event has turned into a three-day spectacle, complete with a theatrical presentation of the weigh-ins and hours of television coverage. ESPN purchasedBass Anglers Sportsman Society (BASS), which organizes the event, and increased coverage of the event and the Classic's profile.

Rick Clunn has won the event four times, more than any other angler. Kevin VanDam is a three-time winners of the event, and is the current champion after winning on Lay Lake in Alabama in 2010. Hank Parker and George Cochran have won twice.

First-place money has grown from $10,000 in 1971 to $500,000 in 2006.

Rebel’s People Who Fish showcases top anglers from across North America, as they reveal the tips, tricks and secrets to catching big fish in big numbers. Consumate hosts, Billy and Bobby Murray known for their cutting edge fishing seminars and tournament wins (Bobby was the first ever B.A.S.S. Classic winner) deliver the latest fishing techniques and insights each and every week.

These are no ordinary anglers. Bobby and Billy Murray have all the credentials necessary to keep the pace of each episode moving. Previously they have hosted numerous series and segments on national television and cable.

Bobby Murray is a two-time winner of the BassMaster’s Classic. In fact, he won the first and eighth events. His fishing prowess is legendary among professional anglers. He is a member of The Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame, and ESPN recently named him one of America’s top 35 anglers.

Billy Murray has been a sought-after angling educator and seminar mainstay for over three decades. His work includes “Fishing School,” the precedent-setting cooperative venture with the Continuing Education Department at Indiana State University.

In addition to their extensive knowledge, Bobby and Billy are twins. Viewers will enjoy the natural interaction of brothers with the same passion for fishing and teaching that drives Rebel’s People Who Fish television. They seamlessly take viewers through each moment of this fast-paced series. In addition to hosting Rebel’s People Who Fish, Bobby and Billy give numerous consumer seminars nationally and are members of the PRADCO Outdoors Brands retailer training staff.
