About Me | After graduating, I took a gap year and traveled with my boyfriend across Canada to Eugene, OR. We lived in our renovated VW camper van and spent the winter in Eugene in a renovated school bus. We were trying for the real hippie experience. We returned to Chappaqua, and I attended RISD for 2 years (Illustration), but dropped out to marry Doug Taylor (Greeley 1970). We returned to OR, bought a house, had two children too young, and Doug graduated from Architecture school. OUr two children are Willow Sarah Taylor ( 1977) and Noah Asher Taylor (1979). They mean everything to me. Unfortunately, we divorced in 1985 and he was minimally involved with the children that point. Rising to the cause of supporting and raising my children, I went back to school. That said, my sister Melissa Moseley (class of 1975) helped me raise my children in Eugene and was very close to them. My mother, Sybil Moseley, helped a lot too, both financially an by having them in the summers in NY and visiting at Christmas every year. The U of O required an art major to also take academic classes, so the underlying coursework for my BFA is in Sociology. As well, I completed a minor in Art History with a focus on modern art. After graduating in 1988, given there was still a recession going on, I decided to get a degree in Public Affairs (from the Planning and Policy School), and traveled to Ecuador to study Spanish for 4 months. During graduated school, I worked managing group homes for adults with disabilities for a period of time, and learned many lessons about managing people. Mostly, that I did not want to do it. Working for the Justice Department was a more intellectually challenging job, but it was also just a "treadmill" type of job, producing paperwork. I left to go to graduate school again in 1999. In 1994, I met my current and wonderful husband, Jim Hinman, who worked in Salem and had a son close to the age of my daughter. Jim is my soul-mate and truly an awesome father to my children. He came along at a time when my children were 12 and 15, greatly helping them to feel loved and safe in this world. We formed a blended family and did not have children of our own. It was enough to raise teenagers! My daughter Willow, went to MI to go to schoo and had a baby girl with her boyfriend, who is Native American Saginaw-Chippewa. Sierra Vaquera is a beautiful, intelligent and artistic young woman now and I love her to bits. We spend time together, but often she is too busy now. My life is great and I enjoy living in Portland, OR. The Columbia River Gorge is a favorite place to hike, and not far from our home. Portland has a plethora of art events and activities, so I am in my element. Going to the fabulous food cards is a regular activity for us these days, love the POKE bowl. Loving my life with husband living in a renovated 1912 farmhouse and doing many fun...(read more) |
