About Me "You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free." John 8:32 Basically, I'm a dork! But I'm a dork that's hopelessly in love with Jesus! I was born and raised in Windsor, Ontario, Canada (eh!). I have an older sister Janisse, whom I probably couldn't have made it through without (luv ya sis!). If I had to describe my youth, I'd say an intensely large ball of insecurity and attention seeking confusion! Oh well, that was a long time ago... I'd have to say my life truly began on Aug. 17th of 1982 - that's when I gave my life to Christ as my Savior. Anything good I have or am is because of Him. I graduated from Kennedy High School class of 1984 (80's rocked!), went one year to Eastern College in Peterborough, Ont., Canada, and then finally transferred to North Central University in Minneapolis from 1987 to 1991. Here is where things get complicated... I was always passionate about my life with God, but back then the answer to that was always..."well, you should be in the ministry!" Unfortunately, "the ministry" was pretty limiting and I just didn't fit that conservative christian mold very well. I got married and had two wonderful amazing daughters Rachelle and Lynnae...but both marriage and "the ministry" were not what I expected them to be. I left church work in 1999 a depressed and confused mess. I went into counseling and worked through a lot of emotional baggage that I carried around and into everything I did. It was the best thing I ever could have done. It felt liberating to really see myself as an individual that God loved, accepted, and made unique just the way I was. I began to redefine my perceptions and pre conceived notions of ministry that were programmed into me decades ago...i realized that ministry is not something you do...its something you are! It flows out of your life out of who God made you to be. I just had to figure out who i was. After eight years of successful business ventures I went back to school to work on who i was.. I finished my masters in psychology in 2009, and of all places, God led me back to Alamogordo, NM to serve the community with Teambuilders Counseling Services as a mental health counselor for children, teens and families at risk. It was a great job and experience, but as of Aug. 19th the State of NM shut Teambuilders and 14 other organization shut down to reform behavioral health. At the time, this seemed like a scary crisis for me, but it turned out to be the catalyst for me to find something better. I am now an MFLC - Military Family Life Counselor. I counsel kids and families for the Air Force, and am presently serving a contract at Holloman Air Force Base. In my spare time, I am a Les Mills licensed group fitness instructor, and I teach and train our nations military group fitness classes at Holloman Air Force Base. I have found a great place of belonging at First Assembly Worship Center, and every once in a while you can still catch me jammin out on my bass and guitars with the Worship Center Band too. Part of this journey led me to not only confront pre conceived notions about ministry...but also my marriage. I had been perpetuating a dysfunctional illusion of what I thought was a good relationship, but was truly a mess. I will always love her and thank her for the two beautiful ladies we have together...but after 21 years we have gone our separate ways now. It's taken me a while to get here, but I am grateful for the journey and have learned from it. I continue to enjoy it as I grow day by day in my walk with God. I continue to stay true to my core values: love with all that is in you, always stay teachable and willing to learn, hold fast to the truth, be disciplined and work hard at whatever you do, be content with what God and life bring u, strive for excellence in everything, be who God made you to be and no one else, worship God with all that is in you in all you do, and don't do ministry...live...(read more)
