| About Me | as usual, i have always been late doing everything-- i married in '81, had daughter in '84 and son in '86. now, i just had my first grandchild-- a girl, dec 27 '11. So i know you all who i went to school with have more grandchildren than i do and i am so happy for you. george and i have moved around a bit-- to san antonio where we had the kids, to claremore ok for a while, to germany for 4 years, back to the states to duncan ok where the kids graduated from high school (& they both graduated from southwestern okla state univ ('07 & '08)) and finally to tulsa ok area where the kids and we have settled for now. i will now be taking care of my grandbaby after my daughter goes back to work in march (at least during the day). my health has caused some problems, but this change should help me be more active and alert. (dad '03 and mom '09 both passed away-- but, gail stires (my sister still lives in wichita falls--but, her son died in '99 and both her first and second husbands also passed away.)). we keep up with each other very closely now. now, george is trying to figure out when he can plan on retiring from the corps of engineers here in tulsa (he is 67) but the time just has not been right yet, for some reason, or maybe the prospect of being home all day with me has something to do with his decision-- who knows....is that not the way with long marriages? (just kidding.) honestly though, george really does need to to retire. the last quarter of '08 he took a corp of engineers tour to afghanistan for 6 months. the kids had graduated from swosu and were trying to get on their feet and get employed. he did manage to get back for our daughter's wedding in may '09. but then, in early '10, he took another tour back to afghanistan-- but, i had to have emergency open heart surgery and the red cross had to get him back here, so that tour was cut short. so maybe he's had enough office stress and needs to retire. both of us might be due by now Now Summer and Justin And Isla have moved to Kansas City Mo. They have bought a home and have settled down there because of Justins new job (as of July '12). So now Georgie and have to learn to live alone with each other-- even after more than 30 years!!! As of June '13 George finally retired! Guess we stay here in sand springs ok at least for the next ten years. Well--things do change quickly even at our age-- we are in the process of buying a home in w.fall tx. I have decided to go back to my old stomping grounds!! I need to be able to help Gail & she I whatever and whenever possible. We aren't young chicks snymore & George doesn't really want to live close to his brother and fami...(read more) |
