Charles Palmer

Charles Palmer

Class of 1970

Through the course of all the years, I have had many experiences that one would call "life changing". Before I was 18, I got married and my first son, Charles, was born, 1971. I was drafted into the Army 1972-1974, stationed at White Sands Missile Range (WSMR). While in the Army, my second son, Jason, was born, 1973. And then after 7 years, divorced. But that was okay, I got custody of my two sons and moved on. Started going to Sacramento City Collage Sept. 1974-1977. Did some classes at CA State University 1976-1977.

My first real job was located in Lathrop, CA, Sharpe Army Base. Worked my way up to Chief of Systems Branch GS-11. After ten years I decided to go into retail. My first job, I was hired as Warehouse Mgr., then Assistance Store Mgr. Manged most of the Dept.'s in the store. However, this store went bankrupt.

No fear, I was hired by Target Stores about a year before the other store closed, saw the writing on the wall. The job at Target was the Executive Team Leader - Logistics and Assistance Store Mgr. Due to health issues, I retired from there with 10 yrs. My next job was with a company / school for the Intellectually Challenge Adults. Of all my jobs this was the best! But I was not yet satisfied. I retired June 12, 2015. I learned that retired was not what I thought it was. haha

My family started a non-profit org. Now am the CEO, Co-Founder, Of (hang onto your hat) USMC Charles O Palmer II Memorial Troop Support. Fondly called Cpl Palmer MTSP.

Actually started the MTSP in 2008. Got our non-profit in May 2015. Go to www.cplpalmertroopsupport.com for more info. The organization has grown and started having Volunteers join for long term. Some have been with us up to 7 years; we have a Board of Trustees, 7, and a Sectary and Treasurer. Last year an organization has joined us, adding about 20 more Volunteers. In short we send care packages to our Troops through out the world and assist families of the Deployed. Additionally, we help Veterans, any war, and their families; families that have given their ultimate Sacrifice - a loved one.

Which brings us to now. haha Read my next story for all the gaps.
Thanks, I know this got long.
