What is Brian Fisher known for?

Brian Kevin Fisher, born March 18, 1962 in Honolulu, Hawaii, is an American retired Major League Baseball pitcher. He is known for his seven-season career in the major leagues, where he played for the New York Yankees (1985-1986), Pittsburgh Pirates (1987-1989), Houston Astros (1990), and Seattle Mariners (1992).

Fisher had a right-handed batting and pitching style. He made his MLB debut on May 7, 1985, for the New York Yankees and had his last MLB appearance on October 4, 1992, for the Seattle Mariners. His professional career is marked by an impressive win-loss record of 36-34, an earned run average of 4.39, and 370 strikeouts.

Before his professional career, Fisher attended William C. Hinkley High School in Aurora, Colorado, where he helped Hinkley win the big-school state title in 1979. He later attended Columbia College and the University of Denver.

Aside from his professional achievements, Fisher also had a minor league stint with the Denver Zephyrs in 1991. He was originally drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the second round of the 1980 amateur draft and played his first professional season with their Rookie league Gulf Coast Braves in 1980. His last season was with the San Francisco Giants' Triple-A Phoenix Firebirds in 1993.

After retiring from baseball, Fisher settled down in Aurora, Colorado, with his wife and two children. Tragically, in 1997, Fisher's six-year-old son, Kyle, lost a battle with cerebral palsy.
