Michael was born and raised in Ybor City. He worked at the family business, Deluxe Battery, before retiring. He loved playing guitar and singing and was an accomplished musician. He played in several successful local bands over the years and was known for his beautiful voice. He married his high school sweetheart, Patti Blount (who was lost to cancer in her early 50's) and they had two daughters. He leaves behind his loving wife Carmen Cruz Bernaldo, his two daughters, Monica Gonzalez and Jessica Winslette (their respective spouses Carlos and Wes), his 3 grandsons, C.J.and Christian Gonzalez and Noah Winslette, his Mom (Cusi Bernaldo) and two sisters, Norma Bernaldo Gonzalez and Bonny Bernaldo Cropper both HHS alumni (class of '71 and '72 respectively.
