About	Gary Derks age 67 of Springfield MO passed away on May 06, 2011. He was born on April 14, 1944. He graduated from Hillcrest High School and Drury University. He joined the Army, and later was the owner and President of D&D Stainless and Alloys, Inc. He retired May 2nd 2011. Gary volunteered his time to St. Judes, MDA, Alzheimers, JDRF Habitat for Humanity and Pet Patrol Association in Houston, Texas. Gary loved to travel, cook, and spending time with his family and friends. Gary was preceded in death by his parents Darrell and Gena Derks. He is survived by his wife Sylvia Lugo Derks. They were married August 15, 1987 in Cancun Mexico. He is also survived by his children Aja Medina, Gene and Jenny Derks, Chris and Telisa Derks; grandchildren Alexis, Chelsey, Chloe, Justin, Hailey, and Jade; brother Ron Derks; and sister Marlene and Thetis Davis. There will be a Memorial Service at Greenlawn East Tuesday May 10, 2011 at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Missouri Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday night from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to A.L.S Association. [Spfd News Leader dated May 08, 2011; SSDI]
