About	Joseph Gregory "Greg" Dahlman -- A private, graveside service was held on March 12, 2011 for Joseph Gregory "Greg" Dahlman in Greenlawn Cemetery in Springfield, Mo. Scotty Killingsworth officiated. Greg, 50, departed this life on March 4, 2011 in his home in Independence, Mo. The youngest son of Carl L. and Emma Harriett (Ford) Dahlman, Greg was born on Aug. 20, 1960 in Springfield. Greg was a gifted musician and vocalist. In 1976, he was chosen to sing in the "Salute to America Singers" that toured across the U.S., Europe and Romania. He also excelled in playing the piano, saxophone and clarinet. He graduated from Springfield's Hillcrest High School in 1978. After graduation, he worked at the Hyatt in New Orleans, La. before transferring to work at the Hyatt Regency in Kansas City, Mo. He also worked as a Kazoo at Tiffany's Attic Dinner Playhouse. He later earned his associates degree in computers from Blue River Community College in Blue Springs, Mo. At the time of his death, Greg was the senior tech advisor for Da-Tel in Blue Springs, where he worked for the last 17 years. He was also a seasonal employee for the Internal Revenue Service in Kansas City, Mo. Greg was a proud, lifelong member of the Democratic National Party. He also had a great love for plants and animals. At a young age, Greg accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and was baptized in Hamlin Memorial Baptist Church, Springfield. Greg was preceded in death by his mother and brother, Carl Jr. He is survived by his father, Carl Dahlman, Springfield; sister, Cheryl Shollenberger and husband, Jim, Union; sister, Debbie Taylor, Springfield; nephews, Mike Shollenberger and wife, Carrie, Longwood, Fla., and Jeff Shollenberger, Union; niece, Jennifer Taylor, Springfield; beloved aunt, Irene Reynolds and husband Larry; three great-nieces; his special friend, Don Cowart, Independence, and his mother, Sue Cowart, Climax Springs; numerous cousins and friends.
