About Homer Lee Spencer, 65, Brighton, Mo., passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2009, in St. John's Regional Hospital, Springfield, Mo. Homer was born November 23, 1943, To Herman and Mildred Spencer in Springfield, Mo. He was united in marriage to Judy Hillenburg on November 23, 1962, in Pleasant Hope, Mo., and to this union a daughter, Meleah Lynn Spencer, was born. Homer loved the Lord which he often expressed through the enjoyment of song and praise. He was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church where he truly loved to worship with his church family. Homer deeply loved his girls. He was completely immersed in love for his wife, Judy. He also shared a special bond with his daughter, Meleah, which is beyond doubt Daddy’s little girl, and know to him as Hot Rod and Pistol Pete. He thoroughly enjoyed life to the fullest, always ready for a good time. which involved outdoor parties with family, friends, and Elvis music. He loved his little Pomeranian buddy, Presley. He enjoyed rides on his Harley Road King and landscaping his beautiful home and farm. He used his quick wit to make you laugh and showed by example the meaning of hard work, determination, and responsibility. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Raymond Wayne; brother-in-law, Fred Steere; and nephew, Robert Lee Love. He is survived by his wife, Judy of the home; daughter, Meleah of Springfield, Mo.; three sisters, Mary Steere and Jerry, Rayma and Leonard Miller all of Shell Know, Mo., and Janet Spencer and Ronnie of Pleasant Hope, Mo.; his best friends Ray and Kay Johns of Springfield, MO., his fishing buddy, James Pendergrass of Pleasant Hope, Mo.; and several death cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, march 14, 2009, in Ebenezer United Methodist Church, north of Springfield, MO, with the Bro. Chester Cossins and Pastor Mark Hansche officiating, under the direction of Meadors Funeral Home, Republic. Burial will be in Pleasant Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today in Ebenezer United Methodist Church. For those desiring, memorial gifts may be made to Ebenezer United Methodist Church.
