About	Russel Alan Black, 69, Springfield, Missouri, passed on Saturday, December 11, 2010, after a long battle with complications of Juvenile Diabetes. He was born on February 28, 1941, in Marshfield, Missouri. He graduated from Springfield Hillcrest High School in 1959. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Bertha Black. Survivors include son, Dwayne Alan and wife, Janet; brothers, Paul and wife Terri and Roger and wife Kathy; aunt Virginia Black, many cousins, nieces, nephews; and a host of friends. He was a long-time member of the church of Christ and most recently was a member at Sunset church of Christ in Springfield. He was an effective song leader in the church from a very early age as long as his health would permit participating in numerous singings and gospel meetings in the area. He worked at Consumers Markets, Heer's Department Store, James Paint Store, Borbein Young, Southern Materials, Ozark York, and Air Moving Equipment Inc. He worked as a volunteer at Cox hospital and for the American Diabetes Association. A visitation was held by his family on December 18, 2010 in the fellowship room of the Sunset church of Christ building. A gift can be made to Mercy Villa care fund for the activities department in memory of Russel Black. [Spfd News Leader dated January 9, 2011]
