About Jerry A. Sharp, 61, of Springfield passed away in his home after a lengthy illness on December 6, 2005. He was born August 1, 2944, in Springfield, Mo., to Leo and Opal Sharp. Jerry was a graduate of Hillcrest High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965. He was an ASE certified mechanic and worked at many automotive repair centers in Springfield having worked form Mike Russell Automotive at the time of his illness. He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Lady Bears. Jerry loved to travel with good friends Jay and Stella Morton. They shared many fun times together. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed crappie fishing at Stockton Lake. More than anything in the world, he loved his grandchildren Amy and Nick, as they were his life. He greatly enjoyed attending, participating and watching his grandson Nick compete in BMX racing and watching granddaughter Amy play baseball and basketball. He gained many friends while attending the Spokes track with Nick. Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved son, Michael; his father; and grandparents. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Carol; a son and wife, Jeff and Pam Sharp of Springfield; his grandchildren, Amy and Nick Sharp; his mother; his brothers and their wives, Jack and Janice Sharp, Eudora, Mo., and Tom and Wanda Sharp, Springfield, Mo.; a brother-in-law and his wife, Robert and Kay Mayes, Ozark, Mo.; many cousins, one niece, six nephews; as well as numerous friends and acquaintances. Jerry also leaves behind his faithful companion and pet, Smokey, who provided many hours of comfort to him. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 9, 2005, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Jerry will be forever loved and missed by his family and friends.
