About | Doris A. Garrett, 68, Springfield, passed away at 1:50 p.m., Wednesday, September 22, 2010, in St. John's Healthcare Center. She was born July 29, 1942 in Rogersville, Missouri, the daughter of the late Charley and Hallie (Simmerman) Glaubitz. She was united in marriage on June 2, 1962 to Charles W. Garrett. He preceded her in death in 2007. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Katherine Glaubitz; a brother, Charles Glaubitz and two brothers-in-law, Dale Hurd and Sam Kiefer. Doris was a graduate of Hillcrest High School. She and her husband owned the Nixa IGA for 9 years. She then worked at Ramey's Supermarkets as a meat wrapper for 23 years. Following her retirement, she and her husband owned Ozark Treasures Flea Market for several years. She was also a member of the Panther Valley Extension Club. She is survived by a daughter, Janet Garrett Jacopian and husband Michael; two grandsons, Shayne Garrett Jacopian and Chase Michael Jacopian, all of Rogersville; four sisters, Rosalie Kiefer, Waconia, Minn.; Margaret Smith, Rogersville; Lucille Hurd, Springfield; Shirley Stone, Fordland; a sister-in-law, Mary Glaubitz Fields, Rogersville; several nieces and nephews, many great nieces and nephews and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 25, 2010, in J.D. Lee and Sons Funeral Home, Rogersville. Burial will follow in White Oak Cemetery east of Rogersville.
