About	Rogersville - John G. Newberry, 41, Rogersville, died Tuesday in the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, University of Texas, Houston, Texas. John was born October 29, 1948, in El Dorado Springs and was a life-long resident of the Springfield area. He graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1966 and was class valedictorian. In 1970, he received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University. John was a commissioned officer in the U. S. Navy and served on active duty from 1971 to 1974. Following his naval service, he attended law school at the University of Missouri and earned a Juris Doctor degree in 1978. He entered practice that year with the firm of Schroff, Glass & Newberry, P.C. He was a partner in the firm at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lynn, a son, Ethan James, and a daughter, Rosalie Grace, all of the home; two stepsons, Steve and Jeremy Landis, Rogersville; his parents, John B. and Ellen Joyce Newberry, Strafford; two brothers, James W. and Daniel A. Newberry, both of Springfield,; and two sisters, Stephanie J. Johnson, Springfield, and Janice C. Newberry, Tucson, Ariz. Private burial will be Friday in Springfield national Cemetery with the Rev. Darn K. Williams officiating and military rites conducted by the Naval and Marine Corps Center. Services are under direction of Gorman Scharpf University Chapel, Springfield. Public memorial services will be announced by Gorman-Scharpf University Chapel at a later date. Memorials may be made to the University of Texas, M. D.
