About Jerry Max Campbell, 56, Springfield, Mo., died in his home on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999, after living courageously with cancer for more than a year. He was born July 6, 1943, and was a graduate of Hillcrest High School in 1961 and Southwest Missouri State University in 1973. He received a Master of Divinity degree from Saint Paul School of Theology in Kansas City in 1976. Jerry was a carpenter and building contractor in the Springfield area and an over-the-road truck driver. Most of his career was devoted to substance abuse counseling and the United Methodist ministry. Jerry is survived by his wife, Judy Newton, of the home; a son, Kenny, and a daughter, Laura Reeves and hier husband, Keith, all of Smithville, Mo.,; a brother, Steve and his wife, Nancy, Independence, Mo,; his parents, Max and Jean Campbell, Marionville, Mo.; and uncle, Paul Campbell and his wife, College, Marshfield, Mo.; four grandchildren; a nephew; several cousins and a host of extended family and friends. Jerry was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Marie, in 1971. A memorial service celebrating Jerry's life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2000, in Dale Street United Methodist Church.
