About	Michael Lowell Shaefer, 57, Springfield, Mo., passed away at 2 p.m. Saturday , Jan. 2, 1999, in St. John’s Regional Health Center after a 10-month battle with cancer. Mr. Shaefer was born Aug. 20, 1941, in Republic, Mo., the son of Lowell W. and Ellen L. Jones Shaefer. Mickey was a 1959 graduate of Hillcrest High School. He was united in marriage to Judith Anne Adkins on Jun 5, 1960, in Springfield, Mo. He was an employed with Dayco Products for over 35 years. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. His most enjoyable time was spent being surrounded by his family, tournament bass fishing and traveling with his wife. His wonderful sense of humor and sensitivity will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched. He was preceded in death by his father in 1989. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Judith; two sons, Christopher M. Shaefer and his wife, Sheryl, Pittsburg, Kan., and Craig S. Shaefer and his wife, Sherry, Fort Wayne, Ind.; a daughter, Cara M. Shaefer; his mother, Ellen L. Shaefer, both of Springfield, Mo.; two grandsons, Carson L. and Clayton M. Shaefer, both of Pittsburg, Kans.; and a multitude of wonderful friends and co-workers. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 67, 1999, in Ayre-Goodwin-Lee, a Heritage Funeral Home at Rivermonte with the Rev. Darrell Hinds officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn memorial Gardens. No formal visitation is planned. Friends may call from 1 to 6 p.m. today in the funeral home. [Spfd News Leader dated January 1999; SSDI]
