About David Allen Rea

David Allen Rea, 44 of Springfield, was born on September 27, 1965, and passed away on June 27, 2010. He graduated in 1984 from Hillcrest High School and he owned and operated David Rea Trucking Company, a dump trucking business passed on by his father at the age of 17. David was not only a huge NASCAR fan. Racing is in his blood, first as a BMX rider, then moving onto motorcycles. He loved racing Harescrambles, but he had a passion for dirt, so much so, you could not keep him out of his orange #19 Monte Carlo. Win or lose, he tore up the track, but it did not stop there. He passed his passion onto his children, all three became racing champs in their own right and no one was more proud than he was. A favorite spot for him to relax and enjoy life was his own backyard. Nothing pleased him more than hanging out in the garage with friends and family. Always a very loving son and brother, there for his mother and sister when needed. The ultimate pleasure and love of his life was his wife. Throughout their time together, whether it was serious or creating pranks, nothing meant more to him than the happy times spent with his loving wife. He was united in marriage to Grace LaRue (Judy) Rea on April 15, 1987. David was preceded in death by his father, Charles Linn Rea; and father-in-law, Wilford Judy. He is survived by his loving wife, Grace LaRue Rea; mother, Carol Rea and Bob; children, Chelsy Rea, Derek Rea and Brian Rea; sister, Lynn Ann Pruiett and husband Jeff; and mother-in-law, Janice Bowler. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 1, at 1 p.m. in Greenlawn Funeral Home North with burial following in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to David A. Rea benefit account at Great Southern Bank.
