Services for Jerry Ross Fortner, 51, Springfield, will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Greenlawn Funeral Home North with burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Mr. Fortner, a television engineer, was found at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday near Kimberling City. [Spfd News Leader dated August 2, 1995)

KIMBERLING CITY / Springfield man's body found in lake by boater
The body of a Springfield man who drowned last week has been recovered from Table Rock Lake. A boater found the body of Jerry R. Fortner, 51, about 5:20 p.m. Tuesday on the lake near Kimberling City in Stone County, The Missouri Water Patrol said. The body was floating in the same location the man drowned, the patrol said. Fortner drowned about 3:30 p.m. July 27 after he jumped from a boat to go swimming, the patrol said. The wind blew the boat away from Fortner before a life jacket could be thrown to him.
