About	The body of Rex Creed Acton, 28, whose body was found Monday in his home at 2414 West Madison, has been ruled an apparent suicide by Dr. Erwin Busiek, Greene County medical examiner, police reported. Officer Charles Ritter said Acton is believed to have shot himself in the left part of the chest sometime between last Wednesday evening and Thursday. The body was found lying on a bed, a .22 caliber pistol beside it, after neighbors asked police to check Acton's home at 4:35 p.m. Monday. Ritter said Acton apparently had written a letter to his estranged wife last week in which he indicated despondency over marital, job, and other problems. His wife, Susan, had been staying at the home of relatives on Route 209 with the couple's two children. Survivors also include a brother, Jack, of 2801 East Division. {Spfd News Leader dated 31 May 1977] Private burial services were to be held today at National Cemetery for Rex C. Acton, 28, of 2414 West Madison, and memorial services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Greenlawn Funeral Home North with Rev. Darrell Swearengin officiating. Mr. Acton was found dead in his home Monday. Greene County Medical Examiner Erwin Busiek ruled the death an apparent suicide. He was a Vietnam Army veteran, a welder, and a member of Fremont Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Susan, Route 20; two sons, Chad and Brandon, both of Route 20; his father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Acton, 325 South Burton; a brother, Jack, of 2801 East Division; a sister Mrs. Judy Lowery, 1656 West Catalpa; his step-father, John Jolly, 2221 Glenview; and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Bertha Matteson, Springfield.
