About	Dale Dixon - City Man Drowns In Texas Funeral services will be held Thursday in Ava for a Springfield man who drowned while scuba diving at Bryan Beach in Freeport, Tex. Dale Ray Dixon, 24, of 2838 North Howard, drowned about 12:30 p.m. Sunday. His body was recovered about two hours later. The former Ava resident was employed at the Zenith television manufacturing plant here and was a member of the Bethlehem Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. in Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, with the Rev. Orvil Stephens officiating. Burial will be in Dyer Cemetery near Ava. He is survived by his wife, Janet; a daughter, Cherri Lynn; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Dixon, 2307 North Robberson; three sisters, Mrs. Deloris June Melton, Mrs. Wanda Sue Anderson and Mrs. Doris Ann Ballay, all of Springfield; his maternal grandparents, MR. and Mrs. Eb Pruett of Ava, and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ike Dixon, of Ava.
