About	Karen L. (Harvey) Highfill of Springfield, lost her battle with cancer on Wednesday, January 27, 2010. She was born on October 21, 1950, to Joseph and Pansy Harvey. A lifelong resident of north Springfield, Karen was a graduate of Hillcrest High School and Drury College/Burge School of Nursing. For 26 years she was married to best friend, Stephen Highfill. She is survived by her two children, Amanda Highfill and Chad Bruton; her special girl, TaShayla Clayton; her mother; her brother, Donald Harvey; her sisters, Denise Fleming and Gayle Clayton; step-son Kelly Highfill; 19 nieces and nephews, countless friends and family members; and her adored dogs and grandpuppy Sophia, Chaz, Elli and Franklin. She is preceded in death by her father; her brother, David Harvey; and her beloved grandmother, Irene Stiver. Karen's greatest love was children, especially her own. She often would tell others that of all the things she had done in her life she was most proud of her two children; and she never missed an opportunity to boast about their accomplishments and achievements. She loved to hold babies, play with young children, and was a surrogate mother to many. She loved much, laughed often, and cared for those in need. She was a consummate wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend who had a no-nonsense way of showing her love and care for others. In the end she secretly knew she would not defeat cancer for the second time, so she spent her days with her family and friends quietly preparing them for a world without her physical presence. She will be missed by many, but none more than her little sis, Amanda, and her handsome boy, Chad. We love you Mom, and we are infinitly blessed for having you in our lives. Family and friends will hold a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 29, and a memorial service Saturday, January 30, at 3 p.m. Both services will be held in Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, Mo.
