About	James R. Collier was born June 1, 1942. He passed from this life on March 27, 1997, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Jim was a lifelong resident of Springfield, as were his parents, Russell M. and Geneva I. Collier, who both preceded him in death. Jim was proud of his two sons, Barry J. Collier and his wife, Diane, and Kenton D. Collier and his wife, Becky. Together they provided him with five grandchildren and four step-grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews were all very special to him. Jim owned and operated Christine�s Pet Shop on East Sunshine with his wife, Cindy, who survives him. Their business was raising and selling exotic birds. They had also been active in breeding and showing English Springer Spaniels in area shows for several years. Also surviving are three brothers, Charles W. Collier and his wife, Joyce, Dick D. Collier and his wife, Freda, and David M. Collier and his wife, Judy; also a half-sister, Ray. All reside in Springfield. Jim was a Christian business man with a host of customers, friends and many other relatives and acquaintance too numerous to mention. He was an avid fan of the Lady Bears and attended most of the season games, despite his illness. He was a good example for all of us because he always put forth his best effort at anything he was involved in. Although his life was cut short by a terrible disease, he will continue to be loved and greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral arrangements are for 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, 1997, in Greenlawn Funeral Home North with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
