About James Thomas Leucht, 45, Topeka, died Monday, May 22, 2000, at a Topeka hospital. He had cancer. Mr. Leucht was a computer consultant for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway. He had worked for the railroad about 26 years. He also was a founding member and keyboardist for the variety band "Airegin." He was born Nov. 19, 1954, in St. Joseph, Mo., the son of Thomas and Janet Babb Leucht. He graduated from Hillcrest High School in Springfield, Mo., and he attended Missouri Western State College in St. Joseph, Mo. Mr. Leucht was a member of Grace Episcopal Cathedral, where he served as assistant organist. He also was a composer for the Topeka Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. Survivors include his parents, Thomas and Janet Leucht, Topeka; and three sisters, Geralyn Rutzen, St. Paul, Minn., and Krista Stafford and Kelly Guerrero, both of Topeka. Services will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Grace Episcopal Cathedral. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Leucht will lie in state after 8 a.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel where visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. He will lie in state from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday at the cathedral.
