About	Daniel A. Cook, 41, Springfield, died Monday in St. Luke’s Hospital, Houston, Texas after a long illness. Mr. Cook, a native of Springfield, had attended Hillcrest Presbyterian and Central Christian churches. He was an Army veteran, attaining the rank of Second Lieutenant, a journeyman bricklayer, and was personnel manger for Mobil Chemical Co., having traveled and lived in several states in this capacity. He attended Hillcrest High School where he received the Virgil Cheek Award as outstanding senior athlete in 1969 [1965], and was inducted into the SMS Baseball Hall of Fame in 1982. He is survived by his son, Scott; a daughter, Stacy; and mother, Sally, and his parents, Allan and Nellie Cook, all of Springfield; three sisters, Jean McClernon and Carol Moore, both of Springfield, and Becky Eulberg, Oklahoma City. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Greenlawn Funeral Home North, with Rev. John Tranbarger officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call after 12 p.m. today in the funeral home where visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Research Fund, c/o the funeral home or Hillcrest Presbyterian Church.
