About Michael Blasi, born October 24, 1951, passed away on Thursday, Oct 24 at Cox Hospital after a long battle with cancer. He was the son of Arthur Blasi and Wildeanna Lyles and united in marriage to Kira Taylor on January 12, 1973 in Springfield. Mike was a graduate of Hillcrest High School and SMSU where he spent much of his time playing sports, especially baseball and softball. He worked for Penny Power Shopping News and moved to Wichita, KS, where he spent ten years as the President of Penny Power Shopping News, which soon became a part of the Walt Disney Publishing Division. He took an early retirement and moved back to Springfield to be with his family. He loved to golf and cook and was known for his special Italian recipes which he passed on to his son, Nick. He was a member of Crestview Country Club and affiliated with the Wagonmasters in Wichita, KS. After moving back to Springfield, He became a member of Millwood Golf Club in Ozark. Mike will long be remembered as a devoted husband, caring father and son, and a loyal friend. Michael was preceded in death by his father, Arthur "Doc" Blasi and a brother-in-law, Kevin Taylor. Surviving are his wife, Kira, son Nicholas and daughter Kristiana, and mother Willie Blasi. He is also survived by two brothers, Patrick and wife Cynthia, and Tim and wife Tamara; two brothers-in-law, Erick Taylor and wife Nichole, and Jerry Iseminger and wife Vicki; and sister-in-law, Rene Parnell; his parents-in-law, Richard and Prinda Taylor; his uncle Terry "Sarge" Lyles; three nephews and seven nieces; plus many friends who will deeply miss him. Prayer service and visitation will be today at 7 p.m. at St. Agnes Cathedral. Mass will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday at St. Agnes with Msgr. John Westhues celebrant with burial at Greenlawn Cemetery under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Arthur Blasi was one of the founders of the Mighty Mite Football Program in Springfield, MO, and it is the family's wish to continue to support this organization along with Jr. Golf Foundation.
