About	Janice Louise (Elkins) White, 59, of Helena passed away peacefully in the early hours of Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, in Helena. A graveside service will be held at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery at Fort Harrison, Thursday, Nov. 5, at 1 p.m. VA Chaplain Larry Stiles will preside. Come join family and friends at a reception and celebration of her life to be held at the American Legion Post #2 following the graveside service (beginning approximately 2 p.m.). Jan was born in Springfield, Mo., March 18, 1950, to John C. and Helen L. (Bench) Elkins. She attended grade school and graduated from Hillcrest High School in Springfield. She went on to receive her BA in education from Central Washington University at Ellensburg, Wash. Jan and William S. White were married Aug. 21, 1971, in Bremerton, Wash. Jan enjoyed in her personal time hiking, camping, fishing and skiing. Jan was a teacher from 1971 to 1985, in Easton, Wash., and Prineville, Ore. From 1986 to 2009, she held various positions with the U.S. government as she moved with her military spouse; those jobs included aquatics director and accounting technician. Her last position was with VA Montana from 2001 to 2009 as an accounting technician. She is survived by her husband, Bill of Helena; parents, John C. and Helen L. Elkins of Elmer City, Wash.; sisters, Judy Ann Crisp of Springfield, and Joyce M. Hunt of Electric City, Wash. Memorials in Jan's name are suggested to the Network of Praise Radio Program, P.O. Box 2426, Havre, MT 59501; or to the Cancer Treatment Center at St. Peter's Hospital, c/o St. Peter's Hospital Foundation, 2475 Broadway, Helena, MT 59601.
