About	Penelope Lea (Davis) Lane of Springfield, Mo. died November 2, 2009 after a short illness. Penny was born March 30, 1948 in Burge Hospital to Morris and Violet Davis, Springfield, Mo. Penny graduated from Hillcrest High School and Southwest Missouri State University. Penny married her soul mate Bobby Lane July 10, 1971. They have a daughter Heather and two grandchildren Britany Nicole and Dustin Bryant Lane. Penny was a devoted librarian and teacher with the Springfield school system for 21 years before retiring this last spring. She was honored as librarian of the year and an outstanding teacher. She was a member of Southhaven Baptist Church where she enjoyed serving as librarian and bible school teacher. Reading was her mission, her passion and her joy. Penny is survived by her sisters Karen Jackson of Raymore, Debby Fowler of Springfield, and Stacey Davis of Sparta. She leaves behind life long friends Kay Johnson of Springfield, Carolyn Millsapp of Springfield and Ruth Molder of Lansing Mich. Bob and Penny shared a long and joyful friendship with Tom and Judy Cowens. She leaves behind sisters-in-law Dorothy Higginbotham and her husband Darrell, and Doris Lane. She was preceded in death by brother-in-law Buddy Lane and nephew Chris Lane. Nieces and nephews are Rusty Lane, Tabitha Michaelson, Tim Lane, Buddy Lane Jr., Mike Lane, Dennis Lane, Renee Cones, Jennifer Jackson, Michael Jackson, and Shawna Jackson. Visitation will be Friday, November 6 in Greenlawn Funeral Home North from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Services will be held in Greenlawn Funeral Home North on Saturday, November 7 at 1 p.m., followed by burial in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Webster County. You may honor Penny by making a donation to the library at Robberson Elementary in Springfield, Mo. [Spfd News Leader dated 05 Nov 2009]
