Hulen “Joe” Buckner went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, October 10, 2025.
Joe was born in Springfield, Missouri, on January 29, 1944, to George “Remus” Buckner and Devarah “Gla” Buckner (Fender).
After serving in the Air Force, Joe returned to Springfield to settle down and start a family. He enjoyed a long and fulfilling career with the City of Springfield, from which he proudly retired. He was an active and devoted member of Second Baptist Church in Springfield for many years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carol Buckner (Hansen), of Springfield; his two children, Shawn “Chris” Buckner (wife Abby) and Terri (Nikki) Chitwood (husband Joe); two grandchildren, Greyson Buckner and Kylie Chitwood, all of Ozark; his stepson, Eric Browning, of Kansas City, his sister Roma Garrison (Buckner) of Springfield, and his brother Ronald Buckner of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Joe's life was marked by his service to his country, his dedicated career with the City of Springfield, and his commitment to his family and his faith. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
